Pope Francis has appointed Father Enrique Delgado as a new auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Miami. Bishop-elect Delgado is a priest of the Archdiocese of Miami and currently serves as pastor of St. Katharine Drexel Church in Weston, Florida.
Bishop-elect Delgado was born December 26, 1955 in Lima, Peru. He worked for several years managing a company before immigrating to the United States. He entered seminary in the Archdiocese of Miami in 1991 and was ordained a priest for the archdiocese June 29, 1996, in a Holy Mass in Peru officiated by Bishop Agustin Roman. He finished his doctoral studies in practical theology in 2015 at St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Bishop-elect Delgado will be ordained on December 7 at the Cathedral of St. Mary in Miami. He will serve on the board of directors of the Florida Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Florida Catholic Conference.
