Fr. Ryan Saunders Offers Opening Prayer for House Session

At the invitation of Representative Chip LaMarca, Fr. Ryan Saunders offered the opening prayer for the House Session on Wednesday. Fr. Saunders, Parochial Vicar of Epiphany Catholic Church in Miami, was in Tallahassee for Catholic Days at the Capitol and the Red Mass

Fr. Saunders offered the following prayer: "O God, source of all justice, You have summoned all who work in this Chamber to walk the path of righteousness, to foster life and liberty, to care especially for the poorest and most vulnerable of our society. As this House comes into session this afternoon, we ask Your guidance for these legislators. Pour into their hearts and into their minds wisdom, knowledge, prudence, courage, understanding, and compassion. Lord, we ask You to anoint their ears and their lips so that they will listen well to one another, that they will speak words of truth and of mercy. We ask You to bless these elected - these leaders elected to public office - to be shining examples of working together for the service of the common good for which they were elected to serve. Lord, bless and guide them in their work and help them to accomplish great things for the people of Florida. In Your name we pray. Amen."
