Trump Administration Urged to Ensure COVID-19 Vaccine is Free from Abortion

Among the dozens of COVID-19 vaccines currently in development, some are being produced using old cell lines from aborted children. Fortunately, there is no need to use ethically problematic cell lines to produce a COVID-19 vaccine or any vaccine. Other cell lines or processes that do not involve cells from abortions are available.
 
In a  letter to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops along with 20 healthcare, bioethics, and pro-life organizations, urged the Trump Administration to ensure that vaccines for COVID-19 are developed ethically and are free from any connection to abortion. No one should be forced to choose between being vaccinated against this virus and violating his or her conscience.
