HB 741 (McClure) which would disincentivize renewable energy development through changes in reimbursement rates and additional fees, continues to advance in the legislature.
Ken Kniepmann, associate for health, shared the FCCB's concerns with the House Commerce Committee on February 23. "If current Florida policy incentivizes adoption of solar energy, HB 741 effectively ends that," Kniepmann said. "We believe there is a balance between supporting a growing solar industry and fairly supporting the utility infrastructure on which we all depend. We do not believe this bill has yet found that balance."
The House Commerce Committee approved the bill by a 17-4 vote. Companion SB 1024 (Bradley) has been placed on the Senate Rules Committee agenda for March 1.
