Background Screening and Child Safety Advances in House

HB 1069 by Rep. Dana Trabulsy (Fort Pierce) passed the Judiciary Committee unanimously and is on the House Special Order Calendar for March 3. A Catholic Days priority, the bill would streamline access to criminal background records to maintain the safety of minors and vulnerable adults. Florida has been improving its background screening system by consolidating separate processes across agencies into a single Clearinghouse. 

SB 1168 by Senator Erin Grall (Vero Beach) is on the agenda for its last committee of reference, Fiscal Policy, on March 2.
